Prayer and the Secular University: Can Professors Pray for Students?

Philosophy professors who teach at secular universities are professionally required to respect the mission of their universities, including promoting open and critical engagement of topics in the classroom.
This essay explores the boundaries of what professors may do outside the classroom. Specifically, it addresses the question of whether it is permissible for professors to pray for their students outside the classroom.
